Answer the following questions briefly based on the news item in Task 1!
1. What was the main agenda of the conference?
Answer:
The main agenda was to increase the awareness of the waste management for economic and environmental benefits.
2. What was probably the main reason for holding the conference?
Answer:
The main reason was probably because there were waste management problems in the participants’ countries and the participants wanted to learn how to solve that from Surabaya.

3. Why was Surabaya selected to be the conference venue?
Answer:
Surabaya was selected to be the conference venue because it has successful waste management or I can say that because Surabaya became the conference host because of its success in managing municipal waste through the 3Rs program.
4. How important was the conference for Indonesia?
Answer:
It was important because the conference can inspire other cities in Indonesia to learn how to manage their municipal waste from Surabaya.
5. Has Indonesia implemented the three Rs so far?
Answer:
Yes, Indonesia has.

6. What did Rismaharini believe to be the best municipal waste management?
Answer:
Rismaharini believed that the best way to solve the waste management problem was to involve household in recycling activities.
7. What made the mayor very convinced about her waste management?
Answer:
There was a reduction in the volume of trash that ended up in the landfills.

8. How did the mayor educate students to live a zero waste life style?
Answer:
The mayor told the schools to tell their students to bring their own plates and cups, and not to use drinking straws to reduce plastic waste.
9. What do you think about the mayor’s concept on municipal waste management?
Answer:
Itt was an Environmentally friendly concept and I think that other cities should have that program too.
